There are only two non-corrupt universities in Kyrgyzstan!

August 11, 2014

-        “Only two universities of Kyrgyzstan are not corrupt.” - said Asylbek Jeenbekov, the Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh, in a recent parliamentary session. – “Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University is one of them. It must be admitted that corruption exists in other universities.” For reasons unclear, Mr. Jeenbekov didn’t specify which the second “non-corrupt” university is.

Is it the reality that the Kyrgyz educational system has only two positive examples of unique exception? Vesti.kg posed this question to Kanybek Osmonaliev, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, and Culture. The chairman shared the editorial board’s skeptic opinion.

-        “It is impossible to root out corruption in all universities, including Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University. We are captives of this faulty system. The problem lays in that fact that, during independent years, a normal program and strategy of education wasn’t designed in Kyrgyzstan. As regarding to Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, justice demands it and I can surely note that this university differs positively compared to others.“

Mrs. Ainura Arzymatova, Chair of the Department of European and American Studies of the Kyrgyz State University noted in her interview with Vesti.kg that it is very difficult to eliminate corruption completely in universities. Also she emphasized that Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (which was mentioned by the Speaker) and Â鶹´«Ã½ don’t have any elements of corruption. In any case – for 99 percent of interactions in these universities.
