On September 13-15, 2016 visiting speaker from the American University in Cairo (AUC) will be offering workshops for faculty at the 鶹ý (鶹ý). Jones’s visit is made possible through a grant from the consortium and the kind contribution of 鶹ý.
What is action research and what are the implications of it in the classroom? What are the benefits of engaging learners in metacognitive activities, and what is metacognition, anyway? Can students acquire research skills and become good at it early in their studies? These are questions Doris Jones will address. Jones is a visiting scholar from the American University in Cairo, Department of Rhetoric and Composition.
Doris Jones is a motivational scholar whose research interests are in metacognitive reading strategies in higher education; social justice and gender in popular culture; epistolary theory; and literacy narratives.
