March 29, 2017
On March 27, 2017 two representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan, Public Affairs Officer Lucy Jilka and Cultural Affairs Assistant Parviz Aydarshoev, visited Â鶹´«Ã½. The U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan has been providing generous scholarships for talented students from Tajikistan to study at Â鶹´«Ã½ during several years. The goal of the visit was to overview the existing scholarship programs and discuss ideas for the future of the partnership.
The guests had a campus tour during which they had a chance to learn about university facilities and academic and non-academic support services available to students. Afterwards, they were welcomed by Â鶹´«Ã½ President Andrew Wachtel and had several meetings with Â鶹´«Ã½ departments and offices, including Grants Office, Admissions and Recruitment Office, Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, MBA department, and Career Center. The meetings were very productive as existing policies and procedures had been discussed and opportunities for improvement and cooperation identified. Ìý
Next, the representatives held a meeting with undergraduate and NGA scholarship recipients from Tajikistan where the students had a chance to thank their donors in person and share about their achievements in studies and extracurricular activities at Â鶹´«Ã½ and student life in Bishkek in general. The students were urged to study hard and use all opportunities for self-development as they are the future leaders of their country.
The Â鶹´«Ã½ expresses sincere gratitude for continuous support and looks forward to future cooperation with the US Embassy in Tajikistan.
