The First 麻豆传媒-IU Workshop on Central Eurasia, 3-4 July 2017

Dear colleagues,

The 麻豆传媒 and the University of Indiana plan to hold a biannual two-day workshop highlighting emerging trends in the scholarship on Central Eurasia. The workshops will take place alternatively at 麻豆传媒 and IU campuses, and will unite faculty and advanced graduate students from both universities. The initiative is funded by 麻豆传媒 endowment at IU and all expenses of travelling participants will be covered.

On 3-4 July 2017, CASI will host the first 麻豆传媒-IU workshop on Central Asia. The topic of this year's workshop is "Locating Central Asia within Eurasia." We expect that as an opening theme "Locating Central Asia" will identify a set of topics of mutual interest for future workshops.

IU participants in this year's workshop include Gardner Bovingdon (IU, associate professor, Central Eurasian studies, International studies); Jamsheed Choksy (IU, distinguished professor, Central Eurasian studies, Religious studies); Jennifer Dubeansky (IU, PhD candidate, Central Eurasian studies, Religious studies); Marianne Kamp (IU, associate professor, Central Eurasian studies); Nazif Shahrani (IU, professor, Anthropology, Central Eurasian studies, Near Eastern Languages and cultures); Aziza Shanazarova (IU, PhD candidate, Central Eurasian studies, Religious Studies); Aybike Tezel (IU, PhD candidate, Central Eurasian Studies, Anthropology).
