Aleksandr Lyan, a senior student from Business Administration department, who is on exchange program now in Gdansk University of Technology in Poland, shares his impressions to 鶹ý.
Never before had I imagine that I would be an exchange student somewhere. In a virtue of my friends, Gdansk University of Technology in Poland unbarred their gothic gates to me.
Exchange semester or even exchange year is something that makes you free mentally. You go out of stereotyping box, and become a part of real world. Former thoughts in your mind are getting transparent and you can see the full picture. Being acquainted with students all over the world helps you to realize your insignificant nature, that there is something totally different way of thinking and living than yours. Hence, you become so curious, adventurous, sometimes so deeply drown in hurricane of diversity, that you might stuck in not knowing what to do next, whether looking at old gothic arsenal buildings in baroque style or go further talking with never-heard-before nationality.
One of the advantages of exchange program is that there are a lot of situations you may go through or classes makes you more aware of yourself, stronger, flexible to any situation. Therefore, exchange time will not be without problems; however, your exchange time will be one of the brightest parts in your life. In my opinion, you will never feel yourself home after, because your spirit would stay somewhere, not in one place, but in your international friends around the world.
If a life is a matter of chance, so we should do our best to get the chance and eventually become a lucky one. As you nourish your mind, so you nourish your life, I would say. When you proceed to succeed, there are always circumstances helping you to become successful.
