The Department of TV, Cinema and Media Arts and Vice President Chingiz Shamshiev invite you to a post-show talk and screening of the feature film CENTAUR, directed by prominent Kyrgyz director Aktan Arym Kubat. Answering questions with Mr. Kubat will also be the film’s producer, Ms. Altynai Koychumanova of Oy Art. The event will take place Friday, December 14th, 11-1:00 in Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s 4th floor Conference Hall. Discussions will be in Russian with English translation, and refreshments will be served.

One of the most successful Kyrgyz directors of the so-calledÌýnew wave,ÌýAktan Arym Kubat made his debut as director of the documentaryÌýThe Dog Was Running,Ìýwhich depicted theÌývulnerabilityÌýof the 1990s through a life of a dog. He went on to direct several successful feature films including Beshkempir, which one the Silver Leopard award, and Maymyl, which played at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2001. More recently The Light Thief, 2010, won several prizes at film festivals, and Mother’s Paradise, based on Mohsen Makhmalbaf’s novel and filmed in 2011, won the Prize of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.Ìý Ìý
