International Open Access Week, a global event held between October 21-27, is an opportunity for open access advocates to engage their communities to teach them potential benefits of Open Access, to share what they鈥檝e learned with colleagues, and to help inspire wider participation to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research.
Since 2007 as Open Access Day, the event was originally based on a partnership between the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition and students who organized local events on a handful of campuses across the United States. Since then, International Open Access Week has grown exponentially and now celebrated globally.
