Thirty years ago, the Jogorku Kenesh approved the design of the national flag of the Kyrgyz Republic – a red cloth, in the center of which there is a round solar disk with forty evenly diverging golden rays. Inside the disk is the Tunduk of the Kyrgyz yurt. National Flag was designed by Edil Aidarbekov, Bekbosun Zhaychybekov, Sabyr Iptarov, Zhusup Matayev, and Mamatbek Sydykov.
The red banner of the flag symbolizes the freedom that the Kyrgyz people have defended in their long history. Besides, the flag of Manas was red. The sun means light, openness, and resilience. Like tongues of flame, the forty rays are forty tribes reunited into a people. Tunduk is a sign of the hearth, which connects heaven and earth, and symbolizes the unity of all nationalities living in the country.
The flag of Kyrgyzstan is a symbol of statehood, unity, and cohesion of the people of Kyrgyzstan. This is the memory of the ancestors and the pride of the country, faith, and hope for future generations.
