Deborah Wilson David is the Head of the Department of Journalism and Media and Director of the Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism at Nottingham Trent University in the UK. She teaches broadcast journalism, with research interests in national and transnational journalism and media education and training, the history and development of UK broadcasting, media coverage of the EU prior to Brexit, and transatlantic influences in broadcasting and broadcast journalism.

Deborah was appointed specifically to develop Nottingham Trent’s media and journalism programmes, which are accredited by all relevant UK professional bodies and have been internationally recognized for its innovative curriculum. She was the elected Vice President of the European Journalism Training Association (2013-2019) and was the first international Board member of the US-based Broadcast Education Association.

At Nottingham Trent, Deborah is responsible for leading the direction and design of 20 honours undergraduate programmes, seven Masters and postgraduate research programmes including doctoral study, delivered across two campuses and in China.

Formerly with the BBC, Deborah still produces factual radio, winning six RTDNA (International Region) awards in the last ten years, and is an experienced national radio awards judge. She is a regular speaker at international conferences and has been a guest lecturer at several academic institutions in Europe and the USA.
