On February 21, 2024, David Lakhdhir, chairman of the Â鶹´«Ã½ Board of Trustees, officially laid down time capsule in the Makerspace Learning and Design (MLDC) building, which is under construction. This is a joint project of Â鶹´«Ã½ and Bard College (New York) supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project will create a unique educational, creative, and entrepreneurial space on the Â鶹´«Ã½ campus in Bishkek, where Â鶹´«Ã½ students and other community members will have an opportunity to use high-tech equipment to develop and produce prototypes of innovative products, exchange ideas, communicate, and attract investors.
Makerspace will be equipped with special machines like 3D printers, robotics kits, CNC machines and a computer laboratory with powerful graphics workstations to make innovative ideas a reality. The center will also include classrooms, brainstorming spaces, a large conference room, and areas for networking and individual work. The Â鶹´«Ã½ Makerspace will be open to scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and developers from all over Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries. The building will be part of Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s open, accessible and green campus program.
The Â鶹´«Ã½ Makerspace Learning and Design Center will be open not only for Â鶹´«Ã½ students. It will provide opportunities for various groups of people, including women, people with disabilities, people from low-income families, and others who do not have access to technology. Makers will actively share their knowledge with others and learn from others.
