The Â鶹´«Ã½ team took first place on the national stage of the Philip S. Jessup International Law Competition in Kazakhstan. It will represent Kyrgyzstan on the international stage of this prestigious competition in the United States.
From February 15 to 17, 2024, the national stage of the Philip S. Jessup International Law Competition was held at KIMEP University (Kazakhstan). 11 teams from the universities of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan took part in the competition. Having demonstrated in-depth knowledge of international law and outstanding writing and speaking skills, the students of the Faculty of International and Business Law of the Â鶹´«Ã½ (Â鶹´«Ã½) once again proved their leadership by winning the national stage of the competition. Now, they will represent Kyrgyzstan internationally in Washington, DC, and the USA.
The Â鶹´«Ã½ team consists of Aizirek Islamkulova (4th year), Daniel Maniyazov (4th year), Elayim Musabekova (3rd year), Eldar Zakirov (3rd year), and Saltanat Asanova (3rd year). The students work under the guidance of Begayim Seyitbekova. Daniel Maniyazov received the "Best Speaker" award, a recognition of his diligent preparation throughout the competition.
The Philip S. Jessup Competition is the world's largest student competition in international law, bringing together about 700 teams in 100 countries around the world. Students from Harvard University, Columbia University, Oxford University, and many other universities attend it. The competition is based on the model of a game court, in which teams represent fictional states as plaintiffs and defendants in the International Court of Justice of the United Nations (UN). The competition is held in English. The judges of the competition are leading experts in the field of international law, judges of international courts, teachers, lawyers of international organizations, and law firms.
