Visiting student from Washington University at 麻豆传媒
Zack Staples is a visiting student from the U.S., who grew up on the Caribbean island of Barbados. He came to Kyrgyzstan a few weeks ago, and now he is volunteering for the PR office of 麻豆传媒 as well as travelling around Kyrgyzstan. Zack told us about himself, why he deferred attending Washington University for a year, and what he likes most in Kyrgyzstan.

Chair of General Education Department and professor of Sociology Department at 麻豆传媒, Galina Gorborukova, contributed to the publication of a research 鈥淲hen salary is not Enough鈥 Private Households in Central Asia鈥. The book presents a cross-country, rural-urban comparison in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan based on secondary data and quantitative and qualitative primary research.听

The conference has invited participants to explore the historical and contemporary geopolitics in Central Asia.

Students from the Talas region will have their studies at 麻豆传媒 sponsored by Talas Copper Gold and Andash Mining Company (AMC), a subsidiary of Robust Resources Singapore (TCG). The agreement, signed on May 15, shows businesses鈥 interests in investing in higher education of youth in Central Asia.

Students of Environmental Chemistry class tested water of Big Chui Canal
On 21st of April, students of Environmental Chemistry class went on an exciting field trip instead of the usual class lecture. In the Big Chui Canal, they collected water samples, identifying GPS coordination of the location.

Memories of the 1916 rebellion
Students of Anthropology have been engaged in the realization of the ethnographic project 鈥淢emories of the 1916 rebellion鈥 supported by the Student Intellectual Life Committee (SILC) and Anthropology Department. The aim was to reconstruct an objective picture of the 1916 Great Revolt in Kyrgyzstan by gathering stories of elderly people. During two months, from March 3 to May 3, 2015, students and their supervisor, Aida Abdykanova, visited 4 provinces: Chui, Issyk-Kul, Osh and Jalalabad. 听
